One of the things I always look forward to when I travel is indulging in delicious food and drinks. Now, I don’t mean that it always has to involve alcohol (as I’ve found myself cutting back on it as I get older), but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy great pairings or discover some truly orgasmic (yes, I’ll stand by that word) flavors.
In the Fall of 2024, I had the pleasure of visiting Cabo for a week-long stay at the Hard Rock Hotel Los Cabos, and let me tell you – I definitely returned home a few pounds heavier. Aside from the exceptional hospitality, even though I have a healthy appetite and tend to forget to eat when I’m lounging by the pool all day, I found myself returning to the same restaurants more than once during my stay.

Before we dive into all of that, let me just say – if you’re someone who appreciates spaciousness (I, for one, am someone who needs plenty of room to feel at ease), I highly recommend upgrading your room. Waking up to those stunning sun-soaked views truly provides a sense of peace that’s on another level.

The Hard Rock Hotel Los Cabos offers a vibrant and luxurious food and dining experience that blends Mexican flavors with international cuisine.
My personal favorites were Zen (I am a big sushi lover), Ipanema Grill and Los Gallos. With Zen, I was lucky to get an interview with the head chef Luis Villamil of Zen who walked me through his point of view when creating the menu. I think for me the novelty was the infusion of Mexican flavours with the traditional Japanese making of sushi/ sashimi / maki rolls. If you have a palette for fresh seafood I would highly recommend planning your culinary experience with a couple of stops here.

According to Chef Luis Villamil, his passion for blending his heritage with his love for food drove him to undergo rigorous training, enabling him to craft exotic dishes. Tailoring to the tourists that vacation at Hard Rock Los Cabos, Villamil creates palettes that are fusion with heavy emphasis on Japanese traditions, Mexican and more contemporary flavours.
An example of this medley of flavours is the Hamachi Maki Roll (JalapeƱos, cucumber, onion, cilantro, crab and serranito sauce; sashimi that is prepared differently than in Japan).
