Community initiatives
This year, Collision is collaborating with a record-breaking 35 community partners – including Black Innovation Alliance, Animikii and Diversity VC – in its commitment to support and prioritize underrepresented people across the technology industry.
Now in its second year, Collision’s Indigenous Attendee Program aims to build a more just and inclusive tech ecosystem, amplifying the voices of Indigenous communities and developing respectful relationships.
Attendees from Indigenous communities were able to avail of complimentary full access to all three days of Collision 2023. Bursaries were made available for startups from Indigenous communities to attend Collision, covering travel, accommodation, and the cost of exhibiting at the event.
More than 130 startups will attend Collision through its Amplify initiative as part of a commitment to prioritize under-represented communities in tech. 246 startups addressing environmental issues, social good, healthtech and more will take to the event floor through Collision’s Impact program, which brings together startups working to advance the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
“We’re delighted to be in Toronto for another year, and to welcome a record number of attendees and women-founded startups to Canada. This is possibly one of the most diverse conferences we’ve ever run, with hundreds of women-founded startups, initiatives such as our Indigenous Attendee Program, and community partners like Black Innovation Alliance helping to broaden representation at tech events,” said Paddy Cosgrave, founder and CEO of Collision
“Investors, entrepreneurs and members of the media from around the world want to travel to Toronto to experience the city and the thriving tech scene that has developed over the years. We want to deliver the most global tech conference, and this is a time for Canada to be on the global stage,” he continued.
