When it comes to looking stylish for a special occasion or even an outing, it is very natural for you to want to buy some new clothes. After all, clothes shopping is fun, but at the same time, you do need to make sure that you are buying the right clothes for you. If you don’t then this can impact the way you look and feel which is the last thing you need.

Use What you Have

If your want to look fashionable, then one thing you can do is use what you already have. Don’t go and splurge at all of your favourite stores, instead, make sure that you take closet inventory first. In a nutshell, you can take inventory of what you have by simply taking the time to empty your drawers. You need to find out what still fits, and you also need to look for items which look great but are lacking an accessory or two.

If you have a classic wardrobe with all of the essentials already then this will make your life easier, but if you don’t then you need to make a change here. Consider pairing a dress with some flats so you can go for a polished look, or even wear the dress on its own. You might also want to layer what you have with some different clothing items. A white T-shirt can be worn under an overshirt for a classic look, for example. If you have a shirt, you love then why not think about teaming it up with some of your favourite jeans, so you can look great in no time at all? If you are in need of some new items then it’s very easy for you to buy items online. Check out The Iconic if you want to find out more.

Take Care of What you Have

Secondly, you need to take care of what you have. Every single little thing matters here. It may be that you use a sweater shaver so you can give your jumpers a new look, or that you take the time to sew on buttons if you have a few missing. If you have clothes that are stained then it is easy for you to renew them by simply using rubbing alcohol, along with some cotton balls.

Preserve any good clothes that you have by abiding by the washing instructions too. You have probably not paid much attention to the instructions before and this is understandable, but that is why it is so important that you follow them now. You can give your clothes a new lease of life by doing this and you can also make the outfits you have, last for way longer. It’s important to preserve the quality of any tops you have by opting for hangers that do not pass over the shoulders. If you don’t, then you will soon find that your clothing gets stretched out and that you won’t get the look you are going for.

Repurpose

A very popular belief that a lot of people tend to follow is that they replace their clothes when they begin to look old. You should not wear your clothes to the point where they look like they are falling apart, but you shouldn’t throw them away if you feel as though they have seen better days. Treating stains and ultimately taking care of your clothes is so important, as it could save you a small fortune in the long run. Take one of your favourite pairs of jeans and then turn them into some cut-off shorts. You can also use some RIT dye if you want to go for a new look completely.

Organise Everything

Another thing you can try to do, if you want to dress well without spending money would be for you to make sure that you take care of your accessories. Walking around with a purse that has seen better days, is truly not a good look. Whether you have a designer piece or whether you have something that you have had lying around for quite some time, you need to try and keep them in the best shape possible. One pro tip would be for you to store them properly. If you have some accessories, then take the time to put them in a cotton dust bag. Dust bags stop your jewellery from getting scratched and they also stop your valuable items from fading in the sun, so make sure that you keep that in mind if you want to get the best result out of your outfit. It’ll work in your favour far more than you realise.
