When it comes to preparing for a trip, there are many apps that could help you make your trip more memorable and enjoyable, but also help you find your way around your new vacation spot. Not only are we all used to relying on our phones so much, but it’s also safe to say that people hardly do anything without an app to help them. The reasons for this sort of behavior are numerous - your apps save you time, energy, and money, while they also help you get around an unknown place and have the time of your life.

From the time you start planning your next adventure to the moment you come back home, you’ll have the opportunity to use different apps that can help you make the most of your time on the road.

Booking a place

There are some travelers who don’t like visiting only one location and prefer hopping from one place to another, so having an app that can allow them to find accommodation quickly will come in handy. Think about an app that allows you to filter amenities and narrow your search so you can find accommodation that suits your needs completely. The great thing about this type of app is that you can get all the detail about the place, see where it’s located, and see the amenities a place has - as well as pay for your stay there using the app as well!

Try: Agoda, Booking.com, Airbnb, Hostelworld, Hotels.com, HotelTonight, Expedia, Priceline, One Night, Orbitz, Hotwire, Hotel Quickly, Snaptravel, Lastminute.com, JetSetter, Marriott Bonvoy, Hilton Honors, IHG One Rewards, World of Hyatt.

Booking a flight

In case you’re not a fan of driving or using buses and trains, or if you’re, on the contrary, visiting a destination that’s quite far, flying there is the only way to go. And if you have an app that’s going to help you do that - even better! So, find an app that’s going to search through different flights available in your area, and don’t forget to stick to the most reliable choice you can find. Only these apps will keep your payment protected as well, and you’ll thus be able to handle every aspect of this process using just one app.

Try: Skyscanner, Kayak, Expedia, Momondo, Kiwi.com, Hopper, Booking.com, TravelPerk, Skiplagged, Hopper, Rumbo, Shoopit.

Dating and social apps

When single people are on the road, they often think about meeting someone new and making new connections. This is especially true for those who travel often and don’t have other opportunities to meet new people. In addition to that, digital nomads also use different dating apps because they usually work a lot and don’t have too much time to meet lots of people.

Sightseeing and navigation

No matter where you’re going and how long you’re staying there, you need to know all about the things you can see at your new destination and how you can enjoy it to the fullest. Back in the day, people used maps and asked the locals for directions, but now you can do it all on your own. Therefore, find a navigation map that comes with a list of local sights, and you’ll be able to do it all on time!

Try: HERE WeGo, Google Maps, MAPS.ME, MapQuest, Polaris GPS Navigation, Waze, Roadtrippers, Spotted by Locals, HoodMaps.

Transportation apps

When traveling to a new place, it can be tough to find your way around unknown streets so this is where different transportation apps come in handy, especially for tiny travel trips. You can download an app with maps and try to visit places on foot, but sometimes this won’t be easy because of the long distance you’ll need to cross.

Most cities have different types of transportation and you need to find one that combines them all into one handy and informative app. Make sure to update the app before you hit the road, so the travel schedule is accurate and includes all the things you want to visit so you can get an idea of your route. If you don't have Internet access, though, don’t forget to find an app that can work both in online and offline modes.

Try: Moovit, Transit, Citymapper, Whiz, Transit Now, CityTransit.

Traveling is one of the best ways to spend your time, and if you have some practical apps by your side at all times - you’ll have a great time and enjoy your new trips!
