Offers US Designed Studio Ghibli Merchandise in Japan for the First Time
LOS ANGELES - Today Hot Topic, Inc., the leader in pop culture merchandising, celebrates a number of classic Studio Ghibli films (My Neighbor Totoro, Kiki’s Delivery Service, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away and Howl’s Moving Castle) through the lens of a limited edition capsule collection with a number of curated drops, concluding with a simultaneous launch in Tokyo, Japan and the US & Canada.
July 20 – July 24th 2022, Hot Topic and Her Universe exclusively launched curated pieces of the capsule collection at their respective booths on the floor at San Diego Comic-Con. This exciting worldwide debut was supported by a HOT TOPIC X HARAJUKU COLLECTIVE themed booth, debuting a short film shot on the streets of Tokyo highlighting select pieces from the Hot Topic, Her Universe and Asobi System capsule collections. The short film was screened and select pieces from the capsule collections walked the runway at the Her Universe Fashion Show on Thursday, July 21st at 6pm.

Opening August 10th, 2022 the HARAJUKU COLLECTIVE pop up shop debuts in Tokyo, Japan. This first-ever retail experience will showcase the Hot Topic, Her Universe and ASOBI SYSTEM capsule collections, highlighting designs that reflect each brands individual esthetics. This is the first time Hot Topic merchandise of any kind will be sold in a retail pop up environment in Tokyo, Japan. There will be a press opening night party on August 9th, 2022 where tastemakers, members of the press and more will be invited to interact with the space and get a sneak peek the night before the pop up shop opens to the public. Hot Topic will be in attendance, sending two US based influencers with their team to attend this very special opening event.
Simultaneously launching on August 10th, 2022, Hot Topic and Her Universe brands will debut their respective collections in the US and Canadian markets via Hot Topic stores, Hottopic.com and HerUniverse.com. Hot Topic and Her Universe are partnering with US based influencers to support this collection.
