If you aren’t aware that the beauty of being YOU comes from the inside out, let me be the first to tell you. You are beautiful – but just as you work out and watch what you put into your mind to stay as healthy as possible, you need to carefully watch what you are eating to keep your body healthy from the inside out! Looking at health and beauty from a holistic perspective is the key to beauty, so join me in an exploration of healthy eating habits proven to make you happier and healthier!
First, ask yourself, what affects your overall wellness? This might sound like an easy question, but when you think about all the unhealthy things you come into contact with on a daily basis, even in your own home, you can be easily overwhelmed. You worry about stress, lack of sleep, lack of exercise and even toxic social or work environments. But are you worried enough about what you are eating?
1. You really are what you eat
Eating healthier foods has a major and immediate impact on all areas of your life. When you choose a healthier diet, you will find that your hair, skin, nails and body both feel better and look better! It doesn’t stop there. There are clear and science-backed links between what you eat, and your mental health. It’s all about creating a balance. Some people find that when they set out on their new healthy goals, they experience annoying and discouraging flu-like SIBO symptoms. What is SIBO? SIBO is the process of your body ridding itself of toxins that have built up eating unhealthy foods, and an imbalance of bacteria. Stick with it, and in a few days you will be feeling better than ever!

2. Stay hydrated
It’s important that you drink as much water as possible, for healthier skin, hair, nails and body. The more water you drink, the more elasticity your skin will maintain, and the more energy you will have for other healthy activities in your life. The Mayo Clinic says that adult men need about 15 cups of fluids per day to stay hydrated, and adult women need about 11. An easy way to make sure you are getting the hydration you need is to carry a water bottle around, and ensure you fill it the right number of times throughout the day.
3. Detox your home
Did you know that there are around 150 chemicals found in our homes that are closely connected to allergies, cancer, birth defects and even psychological disorders and syndromes? This might sound difficult, but detoxifying your home could be as easy as adding an air filter or changing the types of scents you keep around your home. Try going for more natural, fragrance-free products around your home, or in your soaps and shampoos. This is also a great way to rid your home of excess plastic and plastic products that are often wasted or wasteful. Clean out your kitchen and remove unhealthy and tempting sugary or fattening foods that might be a stumbling block late at night or when you are stressed.

4. Find spaces to decompress
Focusing on your mental well-being is another important way people grow and mature, and create a healthier lifestyle from the inside-out. Take time to decompress each day, and focus on positive things that create a sense of peace. Some people like to rely on a great pair of wireless headphones to block out the noise while they meditate or do yoga. Giving yourself some down-time during the day will let you find inspiration, and for a little help, pick up a good book and learn something new in your free time!
There is beauty in every human being, all of it starting on the inside. Just as the way you treat the people around you affects the treatment you get from your community, the way you treat your body will greatly affect the way you feel, and your overall health. Take steps today to make yourself physically and mentally healthier and happier by adjusting to a new healthy diet, and really feel beautiful inside and out.
