Packing for a vacation or business trip can be complicated, especially if you’re working with a smaller suitcase. Shoes and boots take up a lot of space and can make the rest of your clothes dirty if you aren’t careful about packing.

In this article, we’ll cover some of the most effective strategies for packing boots and shoes in a limited space. Don’t forget to check out our collection of women's supportive sandals if you’re looking for a new pair in the hottest styles.

Wear the Largest Pair

The simplest way to save space when packing your shoes is to wear the largest pair you’re planning to bring. It might be slightly uncomfortable to wear bulky boots on an airplane, but it will allow you to fit more in your suitcase along with any smaller pairs of shoes.

Similarly, you should try to wear any heavy coats or other items that would take up too much space in your suitcase. Leave the lightest and least bulky articles in your suitcase and wear as much as possible en route to your destination.

Pack Cleaning Products

You’ll obviously want to clean your shoes before departure, but you should also keep some cleaning products on hand in case they get dirty while you’re gone. Without advance preparation, you could be stuck packing dirty shoes in with the rest of your clothes.

Along with a brush to remove any dirt or debris, bring one dryer sheet for each shoe in your suitcase. This will prevent any odors from getting into everything else you’ve packed.

Fill Your Shoes

Shoes often take up a lot of space, but much of that space is empty. If possible, pack some smaller items into each shoe to fit as much as possible into your suitcase.

Along with socks, gloves, and hats, this could also include chargers, jewelry, belts, makeup, and anything else that you can fit without risking damage. Any empty space left in your shoes is a missed opportunity to pack some additional items that wouldn’t have fit in the rest of your suitcase.
