A Small Town Spa With a Big Heart

There is something to be said about finding hidden gems in small towns. In Napanee Ontario sits a quaint, soon to be expanded luxurious spa that offers a small town feel with deluxe upscale vibes. Touch of Wellness, an Aveda concept spa is a well-known business within the town and surrounding area, but certainly does not get the attention it deserves outside of its region.
Founded by Joanne McCormick, this luxurious day spa is currently moving to a new, posh neighbourhood in Napanee, where it will become not only a day spa, but an overnight getaway for locals and out-of-towners looking for some relaxation and pampering. Coming in the spring of 2021, this getaway will include gourmet meals, free transportation services, 16 luxurious overnight condos, cozy yet modern quarters, and impeccable services provided by a friendly and inviting staff. Fashion Studio Magazine had the amazing opportunity to visit Joanne and her entourage at their beautiful day spa during their anticipated expansion.

Touch of Wellness currently offers an array of unique services and amenities. They are licenced by the LCBO offering wine and cheese, or hot beverages with comforting liqueurs. Desirably, they are the “first spa to offer free transportation in their own luxury vehicle”, which is arguably perfect for romantic date nights, friendly gatherings and small intimate events.
Although this spa offers many similar services to other spas, Joanne goes above and beyond for her clients. Each individual who comes through the door is greeted by an exceptionally experienced team. “All massage and facial treatments include a warm foot soak in the fireplace room with a complimentary heated lilac neck pack” to kick off the experience. “All manicures and pedicures include scalp, neck and shoulder massages as well as heated towels”. Included in these services as well, guests are entitled to a choice of a specialty coffee or tea, accompanied by a light snack. A portion of the spa is also dedicated to many state of the art medical services including their newest addition, the firming detox and hydrating body wrap. Therefore, when you are booking a service at Touch of Wellness Aveda Spa, you are getting so much more than anticipated, which is a pleasant surprise to any newcomer.

Fashion Studio Magazine can attest to the exceptional treatment. As a welcomed recent guest, I was able to receive a full Tulasara facial treatment, which was undoubtedly the best facial I’ve ever had (And I’ve had my share). It was a full body experience, and I was treated like royalty upon arrival. One of the best features while experiencing this service was the immensely cozy atmosphere. There is nothing worse than going into a cold room in a spa, and shivering throughout your treatment. Touch of Wellness offers fireplaces, a cushy robe to change into, and perfectly tempered beds. I was warm and snug throughout the entire visit.
The Tulasara facial offered an array of products and techniques, including multiple masks, extractions, exfoliating and a sensory journey. It left my skin hydrated, glowing and radiant. Not to mention, my neck, scalp, arms, hands, and feet were pampered with a full relaxation massage with just the right amount of pressure. The added touches with this treatment were a pleasant surprise, since it encompassed more than the basics involved in a full facial. There was so much attention to detail providing a top of the line experience. I will certainly go back. Likely regularly!

Although Joanne’s spa is situated in a town of less than 20,000 people, it is gaining more and more popularity every day. Touch of Wellness currently has over 10,000 Facebook followers with 2300 5-star reviews, which is a lot to be proud of. Furthermore, Joanne has offered more than just spa services within the community, she has also founded and helped run charity events in and outside of the spa, including breast cancer research events, as well as other community projects with the purpose of helping others, for example, The Genesis Project ( Look it up!).
