TAIPEI, TAIWAN - It's been a while since we featured Taiwanese fashion so let's go back to Taipei IN Style 台北魅力展, an annual fashion event showcasing Asian brands, and have a look at some of the most memorable moments from the event.

Latest edition of Taipei IN Style took place in the beginning of November last year and featured both established and emerging designers from Taiwan, China, Japan, and more. As usual, Fashion Studio Magazine was there reporting everyday from Songshan Cultural and Creative Park 松山文創園區 and highlighting the most interesting brands and runway looks in our Instagram stories.

The most distinctive fashion trends spotted on the runway included: oversized silhouettes, athlesuire, black & white stripes, dots, asymmetry, eye-catching sunglasses, vibrant red, silver, and over-the-knee boots. Our favourite shows included ASUS X Alexander King Chen and The Final Selection Show of Taiwan Fashion Design Award which featured up-and-coming Asian designers (this year, for the first time, foreign participants from Indonesia, mainland China, and Hong Kong were also invited to take part in the competition).

If you missed our previous Taipei IN Style 2018 reports, you can see them here and here. Enjoy the pictures!

Highlights of the first day included trendy streetwear by Hong Chubby and sophisticated evening dresses by MADAMMAY. Both lines, which couldn't be more different, were created by the same fashion designer May Hsu. Our favourite designs included bright red jacket combined with striped T-Shirt and jean shorts, tulle skirts worn with sneakers, and elegant silver and gold dresses.

"Following Hong Chubby, the refined MADAMMAY collection captured attention with an array of breath-taking gowns. Hsu's Madam May creations exude feminine grace and a subtle mystique, with some standout designs featuring shimmering solid color fabrics." - Taiwan News

Alexander King Chen, who started his label in NYC while simultaneously interning at Provenza Schouler, surprised the audience with a very dramatic, theatrical show and eye-catching, futuristic designs.

"My style is modern yet cultural, simple yet theatrical. I always look into the past and the future to create symbiotic relations for my collections. It’s definitely this rare blend of dramatic flair and to-the-point functionality that fuels my passion for design.

Needless to say, my life is studded with different cultures and influences. While living in London I learned to be creative, in New York I understood how to be commercial, in Paris I acquired the dramatic flair, and in Taipei I learned how to satisfy the market. At the end, my collections carry out a non-conforming attitude making Alexander King Chen a staple to the stars and the red carpets the world over." - says Alexander.
