Every Girl Should Know

Hello ladies, are you ready to get your glow on? We all dream of that lush, velvety smoothness, of that natural, lit-from-within kind of look to our skin, but do we know what is needed to accomplish it? A healthy-looking face seems like something only those pretty models in fashion magazines can have with the help of incredibly good genetics and even better airbrushing. They all look so poreless, so delicately soft and beautiful, that it just seems unfair – how’s a regular gal meant to look that good? Well, we can tell you. To help you look radiant and gorgeous, here are some skin tips that will help you bring that natural lustre out.

Beauty comes from the inside

Junk food, sugar, too much coffee, and processed things won’t just make your hips wider, they will make your skin look old. Without proper nutrition, your face loses elasticity and becomes more prone to irritations, so eating well should be your first step. Sugar is to blame for a lot of inflammation in our bodies and should be the first thing you cut down on, especially if you struggle with acne. Eat a huge amount of veggies (seriously, you can never have too much), and eat a lot of fruits, nuts, and meat such as fish and chicken. Also, don’t forget to drink a lot of water. If you aren’t sure how much you need for your lifestyle and constitution, here’s a handy calculator that can help.

Let professionals pamper you

Sometimes, we all need professional care to make our skin truly shine. If you want to get your glow on and look stunning, skin treatments are a great idea, especially if you’re dealing with issues such as acne, wrinkles, or overly-textured skin. Procedures such as microdermabrasion can be really transformative, so allow yourself to be pampered and cared for as professional beauticians can make your skin silky smooth.

Cover your skin in luxury

Your skin is your greatest treasure. It needs to be cared for gently, and this means it needs hydration. Cleanse it twice a day and use quality moisturizing skincare to keep it soft and smooth. The products you use need to be appropriate for your skin type, especially if you have issues such as dryness where it’s very important that you stay consistent with your routine.

Occasionally, you should steam your face with herbs (just put a few sprigs of rosemary and sage in a water-filled pan and bring it to boil). Lean over the pan, put a towel over the back of your head, and let your face steam for 10-15 minutes. This will open up your pores really well, and then you can exfoliate with a sugar scrub that will slough away all the dirt and sebum with ease to leave your skin perfectly cleansed and silky.

Homemade face masks

The best thing to do right after you’ve exfoliated is apply a face mask. Sheet masks from the store are a good option, but you could also make some excellent DIY versions that are both really effective and budget-friendly. One such mask requires only three ingredients: 1 tsp of turmeric, 1 tsp of honey, and 1 tsp of milk (you can use coconut milk if you prefer). Combine these in a bowl then apply to a cleansed face and let it sit for 20 minutes. Do this once or twice a week and you’ll be stunned by the glorious radiance of your skin!

Sunscreen is your best friend

While soaking up the sun feels great, it’s actually pretty harmful for us without proper protection. Most of the signs of aging such as wrinkles and hyperpigmentation are actually a consequence of sun damage, so wearing a high SPF on a daily basis is really important. Believe us, if you want to prevent wrinkles and sagging skin, religious use of sunscreen helps more than anything.

Take advice from the Sleeping Beauty

How’s your face going to look fresh and glowy if you yourself are constantly exhausted? You gotta get your beauty sleep ladies, it’s absolutely essential to healthy skin. That dull, grey cast comes from weariness, so work on establishing a good sleeping schedule if you want to look good. Reduce the use of electronics before bed because they tend to keep us awake for longer, and try to get at least 7-8 hours of sleep every night.

Not only is good, healthy skin an excellent base for makeup, but it looks absolutely beautiful on its own. It’s all about consistency, so establish a good ritual and try not to skip days – it will pay off to always take your makeup off, to cleanse, to moisturize. Care for your face gently and you’ll look like a luminous goddess.
