Pre-bridal Treatments For A Flawless Skin

The big date has been set. There’s planning and organizing the wedding, from the venue to the centerpieces. There’s the hunt for the perfect dress, and on top of all that, you’re booking appointments for hair and makeup, and starting a fitness regime to ensure you’re at your very best at the wedding. But maybe in all the haze you actually stopped to think about the place where all that preparation stress will show the most – your skin. We offer five absolute musts for ensuring your skin looks as glowing and as youthful as ever on your big day.
Start early
There are no shortcuts. Well, not entirely true – there ARE shortcuts, but they just won’t give the best results, and leave more room for mistakes. Just like the beach body workouts start in January, the perfect skin treatment needs to begin months in advance. Many experienced doctors and professional blogs advise this gradual process instead of quick solutions a few weeks before the wedding. Not only will you give your body the time to adapt this way, but you will leave little space for mistakes with expensive procedures. Patience and preparedness are guaranteed to work here.

No big procedures
Every woman’s skin is different, so what worked for someone else might not work for you. An invasive procedure can take a long time to heal any swelling, bloating or redness, especially if your skin is more sensitive, or less likely to take on the treatment. And at this moment, a long healing period is a risk you can’t take. Either book or plan any major procedures months ahead, or steer clear of them completely.
Extra beauty sleep
Don’t let the wedding preparation stress get to you. Try not to spend your nights tossing and turning, and work on giving yourself some extra time for that beauty sleep. How is beauty sleep important? Well, with the lack of sleep, there is a decrease in blood flow to the skin of your face. The skin around your eyes dehydrates and causes the appearance of those nasty grey bags we all hate. So cancel unnecessary late night outings, don’t overwork yourself at your job, and sleep in or take naps when you can.

Hydration
To open up with a reminder: no matter how tired you are, never go to bed without removing your makeup, lest you dry up your skin. As Dr Turner, a specialist in plastic surgery advises – work on hydrating your skin both on the inside and the outside. Drink plenty of water, ditch sodas and beer, and eat fruits and veggies loaded with water. You should replace your cotton pillowcase with a silk one, as it doesn’t absorb the skin’s natural oils, leaving it flaky and coarse. Lastly, use ointments or creams that you’ll apply daily to feed your skin on the outside as well.
Nutrition
To keep this short and simple: you’ll need to stock up your body on the recommended dose of vitamins C, E, and selenium. Why? Vitamin C boosts your immune system and produces collagen that helps your skin elasticity. It’s found in citrus fruits mainly. Vitamin E is there to protect the skin from cell damage, as well as provide with antioxidants. It’s found mainly in hazelnuts, almonds, sunflower oil and avocado. Lastly, selenium is scientifically proven to be great in defending skin from sun damage and skin cancer. Do some research on sources of these three, and in what way you can enrich your diet to create solid foundations for a protected, radiant skin.

When the big day comes a-knockin’
You’ll want to look like the best version of yourself, no? That is why it’s imperative you focus on feeding, caring for and nurturing your skin instead of subjecting it to unnecessary, painful treatments. Tweaking those imperfections you know can’t be solved organically is perfectly fine, as long as you do it early enough to give your skin time to heal. It doesn’t have to be an arduous process. Remind yourself that these are ultimately things you’re doing for your health in the long run. Not to mention, we all want to look and feel like princesses on the big day, don’t we?
