12, Oct, 2016, Shanghai - The HUB, Asia’s premium fashion trade event for emerging and established international brands, opened its 7th edition during Shanghai Fashion Week today. As official partner of the well-established Shanghai Fashion Week and Mode Shanghai fashion fair, The HUB features more than 60 well-known as well as up and coming brands, spanning contemporary to streetwear to directional to accessories and footwear at Shanghai’s Super Brand Mall.

A steady flow of buyers and industry professionals headed over to the venue to find an oasis of fashion, accessory and lifestyle brands. Buyers commented positively about the high standard of exhibitors and their curation. One first time exhibitor from the UK said “It has been an amazing first day. We have seen more relevant people in one day in Shanghai than over seven days in Paris !”

“Once again we have pulled together a great selection of brands from across the world to showcase at The HUB”, said Richard Hobbs, Co-Founder. “We’re proud that in only our third season in Shanghai we have built a name as one of the top trade events for international designers looking to launch or expand their business in Greater China. We are especially pleased to be recognized as an official part of the events surrounding Shanghai Fashion Week and look forward to working with them in the future to cement Shanghai's position as the fashion HUB of the region.”

The HUB is open until Friday 14th October and it's next edition will be in April 2017.

A few highlights at THE HUB this season include:

CHEAP MONDAY—Cheap Monday was created in March 2004 by infamous denim lover & collector Örjan Andersson, it was his act of positive defiance to deliver great quality fashionable jeans at a great price – the antithesis of the high priced ‘super premium’ jeans that were starting to dominate at the time.

EMMA WALLACE—Emma Wallace is an emerging ready-to-wear womenswear brand from Hong Kong. Mixing modern cutwork with vintage elegance and an East meets West fusion design style. This brand is for the edgier nostalgic fashionista. The brands designer and founder Emma Wallace splits her time between the brand and her work as the designer and stylist for China’s hottest Pop Singer G.E.M. Using her experiences of working on concert costumes and music video costumes to inspire the edgier side of her collections.

ORLA KIELY—The Orla Kiely brand, was founded in 1995 by Orla Kiely. With what began as a small collection of accessories, commissioned exclusively by Harrods following her graduation from the Royal College of Art, turned into a design company that embodies colour, print and just the right amount of whimsy in many different forms that create the world of Orla Kiely.

RAINS—RAINS is a Danish fashion and lifestyle brand offering waterproof outerwear and bags for both men and women. The product design has its roots in classic and elegant European styles, which RAINS interprets into a modern context aligned with the preferences of the new generation of urban consumers. The outcome is an edgy look that flirts with the current streetwear admiration by the mainstream fashion world, but never abandons the aesthetic simplicity on which all RAINS’ products are based.

SADIE CLAYTON—Sadie Clayton is a luxury sculptural womenswear label launched in 2014 by the University of Kingston graduate a year after graduating, and has gone on to show on the catwalk in London and Berlin, and demonstrate the art of working with copper metal as part of the Nick Waplington / Alexander McQueen: Working Process exhibition at the Tate Britain, lead workshops in 2015 and 2016 at the Tate Modern.

SIBLING—Sibling is a highly sought-after fixture on both London’s mens and womens fashion scene. Leopard motifs, Breton stripes and vibrant colour have gone beyond aesthetics, becoming integral to the label’s DNA. Sibling has been a recipient of the Topshop NEWGEN sponsorship and has previously staged a menswear installation with the support of Fashion East.
