Have you ever heard about Batam Island? Mostly people from Singapore and Johor are familiar with the destination as it is situated close to them. Batam Island in Indonesia’s Riau Archipelago is a very popular weekend destination due to the beautiful beaches, shopping malls and fun nightlife. If you are keen on how to get to Batam Island, with just a boat ride away you can definitely enjoy an affordable trip during the weekend there.
From Singapore, you can take a ferry ride at Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal or Singapore Cruise Centre to the Batam Center Ferry Terminal in Batam Island. It only takes you about 50 minutes and the two way ticket fares costs less than $20 (excluding the Seaport Tax). However, it is still quite affordable! You can travel light with your backpack and still have an amazing time.
Here are some awesome things to do in Batam Island:
1. Water Activities
If you visit an island, there is sure bond to be the main thing to experience water activities such as banana boat ride kayaking, windsurfing and jet skis. Besides that, you can also enjoy some snorkeling and diving experience as well.

After having a splashing time in the waters, why not unwind yourself with an hour or two body massages. Reward yourself with a pampering message session and melt your worries away.

3. Seafood Heaven!
In Batam, you will surely find various fresh seafood meals at a very affordable price. There are a lot of restaurants around the island which among the famous ones are Golden Prawn Seafood Restaurant and Harbour Bay Seafood Restaurant. Spoil your tummy with a selection of prawns, crabs, mussels and more.

4. Exciting Outdoor Fun
If you thought you had fun doing watersport activities, you should never miss the chance of having some outdoor fun too. And by outdoor we mean the amazing flying fox and the extreme park experience. This is a great way to bond with your family and friends.

5. Shopping
It cannot be denied that anywhere we go; we will never forget to do some shopping around. One of the largest and crowded shopping malls that you should visit due to its ideal location is Nagoya Hill Shopping Mall. You can find local Indonesian food products to bring home at the best price. Splurge and get great bargain buys there!
