Any makeup artist would agree that well manicured eyebrows are the most defining feature of the face. They give the face shape, awaken the eyes and provide sharp definition to any makeup look. All beauty experts would also agree that eyebrow trends are the fastest growing, and most influential fashion feature in the beauty industry right now. With the emergence of micoblading, eyebrow tattoos and threading, it is safe to say that thick, well-defined eyebrows are here to stay.

Lately in the fashion world, some stylists, models and artists have taken it to the next level, creating works of art and edgy new trends that are making their way to the mainstream population. Some of these trends may seem risky, and certainly pull us out of our comfort level, but didn’t leggings have that same effect when they first became popular again? Here are some of the new risky brow trends we are seeing for 2016-2017.

Coloured Brows

That’s right, just as coloured hair has exponentially gained popularity over the last 2-3 years, now coloured eyebrows are making their mark . Well manicured, coloured brows are becoming a staple in salons near you. Rainbow hues are everywhere and the brighter the better. Can’t decide which colour would look best on you? Its important to consider your skin tone and hair colour. If you are on the lighter, fair side, you may want to stick to pastel colours. If you have a darker skin tone and darker hair, bright rainbow colours will accentuate your best features. Or why not go for them all and make your brows look like rainbows?

Under Eyebrows

Yes, eyebrows under your eyebrows. Why only have one pair when you can have two? This trend became explosive in Europe after it was a dominant feature at Paris fashion week. Celebrities and stylists are quickly jumping on this trend to add pizzazz and colour to their makeup looks. Metallic, and bright gel colours seem to be the best way to create this effect without smearing or making too much of a mess. If you are looking to step out of the box and try something new, then this is the look for you.

Jewels, sequins and sparkles

This trend has been in the fashion industry for a while and took some time to get to the mainstream crowd, but it is quickly becoming a favourite way to dress up your eyebrows, especially around the holidays. This December, don’t be surprised if you see this festive twist at your holiday parties. You can now buy eyebrow stickers, glitter and jewels at your local drug stores and word on the street is that they can’t keep them on the shelves. Recently, celebrities like Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner have embraced this look at fashion outings, galas and charity events.

So if you have been looking for a new, bold way to spice up your makeup routine, or to compliment a less than alluring outfit, these new ideas can help you do just that. It is important to remember that as eccentric as these looks may be, its always better to have a well groomed eyebrow to work with.
