Last month, Fashion Studio Magazine set out on an amazing train adventure with Amtrak Southwest Chief. Our journey from Chicago to Los Angeles was definitely one of the best travel experiences this year.

Shopping Paradise

Chicago, the starting point our trip, is a vibrant city that is worth visiting at any time of the year. From excellent dining and stunning architecture to trendy boutiques and vibrant art scene, there is lots to see and do here.

"Chicago’s Magnificent Mile is the great Chicago shopping experience with an abundance and variety of boutiques and stores to spark every interest, meet every need and delight every visitor.

The shops on The Magnificent Mile are as diverse as the goods they sell, with towering shopping centers, chic designer studios, intimate specialty retail shops, iconic department stores, lavish luxury boutiques and trendy favorites all within an easy stroll." - themagnificentmile.com

"Chicago boasts some of the best cuisine, attractions and entertainment in the U.S., including several of the top 100 restaurants in the country, the tallest building in the US, and one of the best orchestras in the world in the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

From shopaholics and sports enthusiasts to thrill seekers and foodies, Chicago has something for everyone." - choosechicago.com

For more information about the city, have a look at Chicago Official Visitors Guide.

"Steely skycrapers, top chefs, rocking festivals – the Windy City will blow you away with its low-key cultured awesomeness.

It's hard to know what to gawk at first. High-flying architecture is everywhere, from the stratospheric, glass-floored Willis Tower to Frank Gehry's swooping silver Pritzer Pavilion to Frank Lloyd Wright's stained glass Robie House. Whimsical public art studs the streets. So you're walking along and wham, there's an abstract Picasso statue that's not only cool to look at, you're allowed to go right up and climb on it.

For art museums, take your pick: impressionist masterpieces at the massive Art Institute, psychedelic paintings at the mid-sized Museum of Mexican Art or outsider drawings at the small Intuit gallery." - Lonely Planet
