5 Ways to Wear Pantone's 2016 Colour
Rose Quartz

For the first time since it first came out with the Colour of the Year series, Pantone the colour expert has declared not one, but TWO colours for 2016: Rose Quartz and Serenity.

And really, what's not to love? These pastel shades are calming, soothing on the eyes, and mood-lifting, a breath of fresh spring air. Plus, these work as both neutrals and statement-makers for both genders. Spring 2016 brings hues that transcend gender boundaries, but Rose Quartz is one colour that works well for all seasons.

Aside from investing in an LPD (that's the Little Pink Dress), here are other five ways to take on this lovely colour:

1. Pink on Pink

Actress Bella Thorne works an all-pink ensemble with this pastel pink knit top and desert pink skinny jeans. A pop of red in a chain purse is the perfect way to punctuate the look, while also bringing out the red in her auburn hair. Keep your makeup soft and minimal with a swipe of blusher and a couple of coats of mascara.

2. Throw on a Coat

A structured coat is an instant way to add formality and flair to your look, and a coat or blazer in a colour as sweet and soft as Rose Quartz makes you appear more approachable but just as business-like. Toughen up the look with chic accents such as tailored leather pants or a pair of cool cat-eye sunglasses.

3. Ladylike Menswear

For some major street-style cred, juxtapose your feminine Rose Quartz pencil skirt with menswear notes like brogues or a chunky dress watch to underscore your look. A structured leather bag or crisp white shirt are fail-proof options, as long as you keep lines clean and sleek.

4. Girly Prepster

Think backpacks are only for schoolgirls, especially pink backpacks? They are in fact a great way to make a statement without being too loud. A slouchy backpack lends some insouciance to your look, while a structured one brings a collegiate quality to it. Either way, you can't go wrong with the prepster look.

5. Silky Satin

Add a tinge of subtle shimmer to your OOTD with a silky satin skirt or envelope clutch. Paired with lush separates like an ivory knit sweater or camel/toffee-coloured coat, a metallic-pink skirt serves a standout piece.
