CONDÉ NAST INTERNATIONAL LUXURY CONFERENCE HAS
DEBUTED IN FLORENCE

FLORENCE, ITALY - The first Condé Nast International Luxury Conference in partnership with Swarovski and Place Vendôme Qatar, has debuted in Florence. The inaugural seminar entitled “Hard Luxury” took place on the 22nd and 23rd April in the renowned Palazzo Vecchio.
Curated and hosted by Suzy Menkes, International Vogue Editor, the Conference has brought together a diverse mix of world-class speakers from the creative and business sides of the luxury industry. Held under the patronage of Mayor Dario Nardella, delegates gathered in the Salone dei Cinquecento, part of the Palazzo Vecchio, to hear from industry visionaries including Antoine Arnault, David Lauren, Jonathan Ive, Marc Newson, Karl Lagerfeld, Alber Elbaz, Axel Dumas, Geoffroy de la Bourdonnaye, Jeremy Scott and Jonathan Anderson.
The event was held in partnership with Swarovski and Place Vendome Qatar, with the collaboration of the Comune di Firenze. With a total construction area of close to 800,000 sqm, Place Vendôme, under development in Qatar's emerging Lusail City, will feature retail, leisure, entertainment and luxury spaces, packaged into a onestop family destination by the sea. The project is being realized by United Developers, led by local investors with expertise in retail, real estate, construction and contracting. Situated 11 km from the center of Doha, the mixed-use development will host two five-star hotels, serviced apartments, up to 400 different retail outlets, a central entertainment component showcasing permanent attractions, technologically advanced installations and special events. Place Vendôme is set to become a new destination for the region, slated for opening in the third quarter of 2017.
Suzy Menkes invented the luxury conference concept in Paris in 2000, and has a proven track record in this arena, and over the past 14 years, has interviewed on stage a host of business and creative figures from the luxury industry. The Salone dei Cinquecento, part of the Palazzo Vecchio, was built in 1495, and the imposing space houses sculptures by Michaelangelo and paintings by Vasari.
