The World Fashion Convention
Comes to South America for its 30th Edition
- From September 30th to October 1st, 2014, the 30th World Fashion Convention, will be held in Medellin, under the theme "Understanding the Challenges of the Fashion Business”
- Claudio Chiaromonte, Managing Director Latin America at The Walt Disney Company; Horacio Broggi, Latin America Business Director of Desigual; and Todd Gallant, Vice President of VF Corp (North Face and Timberland), are among the speakers of the academic program.
- The third edition of the Latin America Strategy Forum will be the academic aspect of the convention.
MEDELLIN, COLOMBIA - The IAF, International Apparel Federation, in association with their local organizing partner Inexmoda, Institute for Export and Fashion, will host for the first time in South America the World Fashion Convention taking place on September 30th to October 1st, 2014. The convention will provide a space to reflect on the challenges the fashion business faces in a dynamic and ever-changing society, along with the need to understand these challenges and how to adapt them to ensure a strong and competitive system.

This event is held annually in a different continent. In previous editions the convention was hosted in major cities such as Milan, Amsterdam, Hong Kong, Washington, Istanbul, San Francisco, Porto, Shanghai, among others, with the presence of more than 200 executives from the fashion industry in each one of them.
"For this edition, the issue has been framed under the theme Understanding the Challenges of the Fashion Business, based on the fact that the fashion system today changes at a much faster pace than a decade ago. Therefore the Strategic Transformation department of Inexmoda welcomes entrepreneurs from the industry to understand and adapt to the challenges of today", said Luz Adriana Naranjo, Director of the Strategic Transformation department of Inexmoda.
Renowned strategists and businesspeople from the world of fashion will lay the foundations for understanding the challenges in the business of fashion, including: Emiliano Duch, Competitive Industries Specialist at the World Bank; Claudio Chiaromonte, Managing Director Latin America at The Walt Disney Company; Fernando Pimentel, ABIT Manager - Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association; Horacio Broggi, Latin America Business Director of Desigual; Todd Gallant, Vice President of VF Corp (North Face and Timberland), among others.

Harry Van Dalfsen, President of the IAF - International Apparel Federation-, stated that "Medellin, Colombia, will be a fantastic place for the 30th edition of the World Fashion Convention, not only because it will be the first time that we will carry out the Convention in South America, but also because Medellin is a leading city in innovation, creativity and growth opportunities, all important features for the Fashion System. In addition, with Inexmoda as the local organizing partner we are convinced that the next edition will be a success.”
This important event confirms once again the importance of Colombia on the world fashion map, and becomes the opportunity for national entrepreneurs to strengthen their business models. In addition, the third edition of the Latin America Strategy Forum will be the academic aspect of the convention, thus strengthening the entrepreneur's relations in the fashion system in a space aimed at networking.
The World Fashion Convention will take place from September 30th to October 1st, 2014 at the Hotel Dann Carlton on Carrera 43A # 7-50, Medellin.
