About CPFW

Canada Philippine Fashion Week (CPFW) is a non-profit organization aimed at showcasing fashion, culture, creativity and artistry of Filipinos in Canada and the Philippines. It also aims to enhance the image and public awareness of the rise of Filipino fashion on the world stage. It hopes to open up the fashion trade between both countries as well. CPFW is committed to creating fundraising events that will help children through the Kol Hope Foundation for Children and its beneficiaries.

About the Cause

Kol Hope Foundation for Children (www.kolhope.com) is a Canadian charitable organization that helps and supports children with disabilities in the Philippines and Canada. The foundation is named after Kol, a Filipino-Canadian boy, who was born with Trisomy 13, a fatal genetic syndrome. Kol was diagnosed to live only 3 months, but against all odds, he lived for 14 years. He was fed by g-tube, required life support, 24 hour nursing care, and was unable to walk or talk. He passed away on October 9th, 2011, and has left behind an incredible legacy of love, courage and hope. He is the story and inspiration behind Kol Hope Foundation for Children.

In Canada, Kol Hope Fund at Sick Kids supports the genetic department and the work they do in unraveling the mysteries of genetic disorders and ultimately in finding effective treatment. In fact, Kol Hope has helped fund the Sick Kids Genetics Clinic, which provides children with the best care. Kol Hope Fund at Easter Seals provides children with the most basic needs like wheelchairs and respite care, plus the opportunity to go and enjoy summer camps.

In the Philippines, the main beneficiaries are various children institutions and schools like the Bacolod Boys Home and the Holy Infant Nursery Home, which help care for children who are born with disabilities, abandoned, neglected, and orphaned. It also donates to St. Martin De Porres in Cebu, a special school for children with Down syndrome, autism and hearing impaired.

In 2013, Kol Hope Fund @ World Vision was established, allowing the foundation to spread Kol's legacy of charity, love and hope to children around the world. In December 2013, Kol Hope donated 1.3 million pesos to World Vision to help the Children affected by Typhoon Haiyan. Kol Hope Foundation for Children's charity number is 86967 9415 RR 0001.
