BANGKOK - Central Embassy, the latest Bangkok shopping mall development by Central Retail Corporation, is to open on May 9.
The 37-floor mixed-use mall will sit on Bangkok’s Wireless Rd, on a plot formerly occupied by the British Embassy and will include a 30-storey Park Hyatt Bangkok hotel. The mall will house more than 200 stores.
Its 200m facade is constructed from shimmering shingles, paying homage to traditional Thai temples.
Chart Chirathivat, the mall’s MD, says Central invested 6 billion baht ($185.6 million) to procure the land and a further 12 billion baht on the main structure and interior of the center, making it the highest investment per square meter in Thailand’s retail history.
“We made this investment in order to obtain a flawless masterpiece in the shopping-center world and the magnum opus of Bangkok’s retail business,” he said.
