Opens with Manish Arora

BANGKOK - Bangkok International Fashion Week opened with a bang last Thursday 7th November. Welcoming back the infamous fashion show, BIFW showcases some of the most creatively inspired designers throughout the world. The first designer to open the week was none other than Manish Arora. Known for his trademark colours of pink and gold, Arora did not disappoint with his latest collection inspired by strong women of Asia. The concept for BIFW 2013 for Arora’s collection was “Future is Asia”.
The show opened with a short film about the BIFW casting process and the story behind the inspiration of Arora’s show. The short film told the story of the first widows in India to break the taboo of taking part of Holi in India. Holi is the Indian festival of colours, where participants throw coloured powder over each other, welcoming the arrival of Spring. In the past widows in India were not permitted to take part in the festival of Holi but this year, women braved against the norm and took part. Their strength to stand up and self-empowerment inspired Arora’s collection.

Some of the top names were models in the show for Arora, such as Cindy Sirinya. Cindy wore a full-length dress in deep blue, accessorised with glamouress head piece, glow in the dark gold pattern and eye mask. The dress was cinched at the waist with a glimmering belt.
Arora’s collection was nothing short of colourful, using a wonderful display of imagery, coloured lighting and glow in the dark material. The show embodied the idea of strong women throughout. The designs grabbed a kaleidoscope of colours and patterns. Models wore masks and had the look of goddesses taking the runway, displaying confidence and grandeur in these unique designs. Arora has designed outfits for international celebs such as Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, MIA and Rihanna.
