ROME, ITALY - The 23rd edition of AltaRomAltaModa returns to enhance the prestige of the capital with a not-to be-missed selection of events including fashion shows, inaugurations, exhibitions and happenings.
The Eternal City, used as an ideal backdrop for numerous films and the favourite location, since time immemorial, of several of the world’s most famous Italian and foreign directors, is once again back in the international limelight. Altaroma contributes to the cultural “rebirth” of the city and as a star of Rome’s fashion week expresses the purest form of creativity.

In addition to well-established names and projects consolidated by Italian Haute couture, this year the AltaRomAltaModa fashion week will be honoured by the presence of one of the most famous international designers.
The most eagerly awaited event of what promises to be an edition rich in explosive ideas is, in fact, the Haute Couture show “La Parisienne” by Jean Paul Gaultier, a master of style who, for more than 30 years, has written the history of fashion on a global level and who, at times, though creating a stir, has nevertheless always convinced the international fashion critics. “I am honoured to be a part of the new direction taken by Altaroma and to present my Haute Couture here in a city that I love thereby also giving Rome a chance to relive the same emotion that my Parisian fashion shows create” - said the designer.

Silvia Venturini Fendi, President of Altaroma commented: “I am extremely proud to be able to welcome a genius of the calibre of Jean Paul Gaultier to Altaroma, whose haute couture, while featuring impeccable tailoring, is always provocative in the name of a multi-form aesthetic that surpasses the limits of creative predictability. This is how Rome presents itself today, a city where anyone with creative talent would wish to live. A centre of avant-garde expression, of unlimited stimuli that has nothing to envy other European capitals. And since couture is a true heritage of humanity, the ‘La Parisienne’ collection is a tribute to the synergy between two world capitals of high fashion.”
All of this makes Rome an effective cradle of creative ferment and an inviting and privileged platform. A cornucopia of new initiatives, including the presence of well-established young designers emerging from Altaroma’s creative “breeding- ground” who have chosen the capital to present their collections using new forms of language.

ABOUT
AltaRomAltaModa is Rome’s celebrated fashion week, whose two annual appointments in January and July, create innumerable opportunities for the meeting between historic Italian fashion houses and new, international creative and production realities.
Tradition and sartorial workmanship, cultural heritage and projects targeted towards the future. In Rome, fashion’s DNA carries that sense of craftsmanship and material culture that, today, is manifested in neocouture.
This is the distinctive trait of Roman couture, which re-engineers contemporary style, interpreting it through garments and accessories which, in synergy with the city, make the AltaRomAltaModa event an ideal stage for the present.
