TOKYO, JAPAN - Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week TOKYO AW 2013 has officially started today. In addition to unveiling the latest collections through shows and installations by 48 participating brands, there will be many events and fashion exhibitions open to the public. The opening show by Conny Groenewegen took place at Shibuya Hikarie and featured mainly black and white outfits with a small addition of grey and red. Interesting use of textures and playing with different fabrics, made this collection looking fresh and innovative.
Conny Groenewegen is a Dutch designer specializing in knitwear. Her signature ‘soft-tech’ concept combines modern technology with traditional handwork. Since establishing her brand in 2006, Conny Groenewegen has worked with other international designers and brands such as Alexander van Slobbe, Yoshiki Hishinuma and Droog Design.
In 2011, her AW 2012 collection entitled ‘Alchemy’ won the Mercedes-Benz Dutch Fashion Awards. Conny Groenewegen is taking part in Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week TOKYO for the first time.
