Highlights - Day 1 & 2
JAKARTA - The opening night of Jakarta Fashion Week took place on 3rd November and featured catwalk shows of two established designers: Sebastian Gunawan from Indonesia and Lie Sang Bong from South Korea.
Sebastian Gunawan is one of Indonesia’s leading designers who has won various international awards including the ‘International Apparel Federation World Young Designer Award’ in Barcelona in 2004. Lie Sang Bong, who is now based in Paris, was crowned as ‘The Best Designer of the Year in 2009’ in Seoul and has been showing at Paris Fashion Week since 2002.
Second day belonged to young designers from Thailand, Payapa and Paul Direk, and Grazia Glitz & Glam show that featured creations of local celebrities.
Although Jakarta may be not on the international fashion map yet, it is really interesting to watch what is currently happening in the Indonesian fashion industry. Thanks to the fashion programs at LaSalle College International Jakarta, Raffles Design Institute Jakarta and ESMOD JAKARTA, the new generation of designers seems to become more creative and ready to experiment.
Fashion Studio Magazine will be bringing you the highlights of all seven days of Jakarta Fashion Week 2013. Stay tuned!
