BANGKOK, THAILAND - Theatre, a legendary fashion house known for first-rate dressmaking skills and delicate embroidery, presented their collection on the second day of International Couture Fashion Week 2012 at Siam Paragon in Bangkok

The show had a dramatic atmosphere from the very start and was accompanied by the sounds of a religious choir performing at the centre of the catwalk. It was based in part on Theatre’s L’Age d’Or 2012/13 collection that was first shown during Bangkok’s ELLE Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2012.

The Thai label created timeless pieces that go beyond fashion seasons or trends.

THEATRE
Designer Sirichai Daharanont

Theatre, a legendary Thai fashion brand, has been presenting its enigmatic collections for men and women for more than 28 years. Theatre is an icon of refined craftsmanship. Its unique handmade embroideries and the use of exotic materials create a romantic, dramatic, and fantasy element that represents refined Thai couture with a creative modern twist.

The work is also a perfect blend of subtle feminine and masculine characteristics. The designer’s love of travelling and exposure to a variety of art and culture is reflected throughout his collections. While studying textiles in college, the designer worked as an apprentice creating accessories for fashion shows for leading Thai fashion houses. In 1985, he opened his first fashion house “Theatre” which quickly became a success.

In “Siam Paragon International Couture Fashion Week 2012”, Sirichai Daharanont and his latest menswear collection created a new chapter in couture history. Outfits were inspired by Renaissance night gowns, with laces as the main decorative element on silk and hand-woven fabric. White, black, gold and silver were the selected palettes. The silhouette was loose and voluminous. To add a touch of novelty the designer added a masculine look that impressed with a beautiful cut and attention to every detail. The collection also incorporated a female line and androgynous looks.
