All to be part of Digital Fashion Week Singapore this October

SINGAPORE -  Singapore will be the world’s first city to host Digital Fashion Week (DFW), a Shoppable Live Streaming Fashion Week; an event that features live fashion runway shows that integrates the use of e-commerce services, and will be completely live streamed exclusively on YouTube and DFW’s website

The event will be held from 20th to 22nd October 2012, at The Tent @ Millenia Pavilion, Ritz-Carlton Singapore. Six top Singaporean designers will be showing their latest Spring/Summer 2013 collections, alongside an internationally renowned guest designer, Guo Pei; one of China’s top fashion designers, whose flair for the dramatic has even Lady Gaga wide-eyed. In 2011, Fast Company bestowed upon her the honor of being the 6th Most Creative People in Business.

One of fashion’s hottest faces of the moment, New York based androgynous supermodel, Andrej Pejic, will be walking for five of DFW Singapore’s runway shows. Being the muse of Jean Paul Gaultier, Andrej has received recognition from walking for both his Men’s and Women’s collections. Andrej has also walked for the collections of other prestige designers, such as Marc by Marc Jacobs, Paul Smith, Jeremy Scott, Raf Simons, Neil Barrett, Comme des Garçons and many others.

Andrej has also appeared in international fashion titles such as Italian and French Vogue, i-D Magazine, V Magazine, New York Magazine, Dazed & Confused, and the list continues. DFW Singapore will be the first and only Spring/Summer 2013 fashion week that Andrej will be walking for, as he stated that he would be sitting out this season because “the pay offered was not appealing to him”.

Emmy-winning, Oscar-nominated American stylist and Legendary Fashion Icon, Patricia Field, who has previously directed the styling for films such as Sex and the City, The Devil Wears Prada, Confessions of a Shopaholic, and TV shows such as Ugly Betty, Hope & Faith and many others, will be attending DFW Singapore as part of the DFW VIP Viewing Party.

Although DFW Singapore, being a live streaming only fashion week, will not have any front row guests, there will be a DFW VIP Viewing Party within the venue that is open exclusively to selected media and VIPs by invite only, allowing them to witness the event firsthand.

Singapore veteran fashion designer, Thomas Wee, will be opening the fashion week with his debut Men’s collection; which he has designed over his 30 years of experience in the fashion industry. After which, he will be showing his Women’s collection.

London based Singaporean designers, Eugene Lin and Tze Goh, will be flying back to Singapore to show their collections publicly for the first time.

Fresh off London Fashion Week, Eugene Lin will be presenting his critically acclaimed ‘The Judgment of Paris’ Spring/Summer 2013 collection, which had been featured on Vogue UK, Fashion TV and had also been applauded by Phoenix Magazine, a publication from the UK, saying the collection was “a rousing success”.

Tze Goh, graduate from Central Saint Martins MA fashion program, London and Parsons the New School for Design, New York. His work was recently reviewed on Vogue Italia, Harper’s Bazaar UK, ELLE Belgium, Idol magazine, and many more. He will be showing his latest collection during DFW Singapore.

Singaporean based designers’ brands, PAULINE.NING, OwnMuse and -J-A-S-O-N- will also comprise the lineup for DFW Singapore this year. The official show schedule will be announced at a later date.

DFW Singapore signifies a bold leap in the fashion industry, where fashion, which is ever changing, meets the digital age with a grand entrance, entitling it to a milestone in the history of fashion.

Says Charina Widjaja, Project Director of DFW Singapore, "Unlike the fashion capitals of the world, New York and Paris, Singapore currently does not have a huge fashion industry to support a full-fledged fashion week. In order to broaden the local fashion market and allow more exposure for our talented, yet underrated, Singaporean fashion designers, we need to go digital and show the world what they’re missing out on, allowing these designers to get the attention they deserve.”

DFW Singapore will be a biannual event, showing the Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter collections separately, and, in 2013, will proceed to branch out to other key cities in Asia.
