TORONTO - Wesley Badanjak, a Canadian designer behind the fashion brand LOVAS, presented his Fall/Winter 2012 collection on March 6, in preparation for Toronto Fashion Week.
Excellent tailoring and attention to detail, simple forms and elegant colour palette with neutrals as the basis and vibrant saturated blues popping out for the contrast, were the strong points of the collection. Luxurious accessories, feather earrings, silver necklaces, and leather gloves that only covered the fingers, complimented the look.
Badanjak’s Fall/Winter 2012 collection was called "The Waterless Flood", which was inspired by Canadian author Margaret Atwood’s novel, "The Year of the Flood".
“We took the main character, Brenda, and the three main scenes of her life (...) and melded them into this kind of mash up. Because the novel takes place in the future, we thought the idea of a very futuristic ‘Stepford wife’ look would work well... It’s this modern take on a beehive, almost like a Daphne Guinness vibe to it, with very minimal makeup - almost robotic looking.” - said the designer.
Sophisticated and lady-like, simple but not boring. We love it!
