ABOUT THE DESIGNER

The Celia Kritharioti House of Couture is synonymous with sophisticated elegance, designing perfection and intriguing glamour. Its creations are praised due to their unique style and finesse, their feminine lines, their exceptional, distinctive character and premium quality of materials and fabrics used.

As an owner and innovator of an emblematic and esteemed Greek fashion salon established in 1906, Celia Kritharioti herself has confidently brought the house’s glorious tradition into the 21st century. For about two decades now, the Greek fashion scene has been enhanced with a breath of fresh air through the sexy, refined, utterly feminine couture creations shown on the catwalk by world-class top models (such as Giselle, Leticia Casta, Claudia Schiffer, Elle Mac Pherson or Karolina Kurkova), helping the business rise and quickly expand beyond Greek borders. They have called Celia Kritharioti the “queen of wedding dresses” and they are probably right, since she appears to know very well how to turn a wedding ceremony into a real dream. Shiny and famous Greek brides trust the house’s creations for their most precious moments, often making Greek celebrity magazines look like a visit to the legendary atelier.

Speaking of ateliers, the Celia Kritharioti House of Couture now owns three of them, while a fourth workshop creates its famous embroideries, by using pearls, sequins, Swarovski crystals and semi-precious stones, combined with silver and gold.

Furthermore, aiming to address a wider but still stylish audience the house has recently launched the 5226 prêt à porter collection for men and women. The designer for the 5226 men’s line, which is considered a major breakthrough in men’s fashion design, is Nikos, Celia’s brother, proving that talent and style runs in the family tradition.

It is in recognition of this precious family tradition that the 5226 collection was named, celebrating the birth date of Celia’s and Nikos’ father, to honor a man who introduced style, elegance and class to his children from a very young age, through his cosmopolitan experience and wide knowledge of culture, design and art.

The designers at the Celia Kritharioti House of Couture seem to know very well what a famous maestro once said: “a couturier must be an architect for design, a sculptor for shape, a painter for color, a musician for harmony and a philosopher for temperance”.

The philosophy behind every Celia Kritharioti design is that every woman is truly unique, looking sometimes like a swan eagerly waiting to unfold her plume. Their main goal and ambition is to help this come out, through their couture wedding, evening and cocktail dresses and even their unique designs of christening apparel.

Celia Kritharioti designs go far beyond “hip” or “hot”. They literally smile on a woman’s body sometimes with a clear, open-hearted joy and other times with a gamesome, intriguing nuance. They watch and express feelings and wishes in a charming and seductive manner.

Couture wear by Celia Kritharioti derives from an informed blend of harmony and beauty, inspired by different periods and their trends, revisited in an innovative, creative way, bringing about a playful exchange between materials and textures, combining past with presence, straight lines and curves. The extensive, detailed work of every single dress designed by Celia Kritharioti – whether it is a cocktail dress influenced by the 50s, a romantic set of lace and muslin or a sensational summer night’s outfit – is distinguished at first sight. The designer’s fantasy and art make it the ultimate women’s desire.

A woman wearing Celia Kritharioti knows how to enjoy every moment of her life, day and night. She is self-confident and powerful as well as sexy and elegant. She loves to attract glances and feel their magnetism, but she does not need to go out of her way in order for others to notice her. She is the 21st century woman at her best.
