WFW 2011: Frederick Lee

By Eva Fydrych

THE BUSINESS OF SELLING DREAMS

Unique, creative, with rich ornaments and bold accessories, full of colours and different patterns - it's hard to describes Frederick's designs in one sentence. His eclectic style and ability to mix various fabrics and textures is original and outstanding.

Frederick Lee showed his latest collection, inspired by the hill tribes of China, at Women's Fashion Week in Singapore.

His fashion philosophy is to ignore conventions and seasonal demands by making clothes that bring together extravagance, glamour, wit, and individuality. He strongly believes in diversity and creates clothes for a feminine, confident, and seductive woman who is open-minded and looks for something unusual. His inspiration comes from various sources including a Spanish designer Balenciaga, old Hollywood glamour, myths, legends, and magic.

"I create clothes that reflect 'moments' and dreams rather then finding the next best-selling commercial design; fashion is the business of selling dreams, one garment at a time." - Frederick Lee
