Press Release

THE FIFTY-FOURTH EDITION OF CIBELES MADRID FASHION WEEK
KICKS OFF TODAY

CIBELES MADRID FASHION WEEK (CMFW), an event organised by IFEMA, will stage its fifty-fourth edition between 16th and 20th September next at Feria de Madrid, once again confirming its leading role as a grand forum for Spanish design and the best showcase for the considerable creative diversity that exists throughout the country.

In this respect, over a period of five days, Hall 14.1, which forms part of the thematic area known as DC Area 12.14 at Feria de Madrid, will provide the setting for the staging of a new edition of CMFW, an event at which some 44 designers will be presenting their collections for Spring-Summer 2012 on the catwalk. These established creators will be complemented by 40 talented young designers who will be exhibiting and promoting their designs at the EL EGO Showroom in CIBELESPACIO, featuring direct sale to the general public.

Innovation and new trends will once again play a leading role at this key fair for the Spanish fashion industry, which will kick off on Friday 16th September with a fashion show by Roberto Verino and will conclude on Tuesday 20th September with a new edition of COOLPEOPLE at Cibeles. Among the new features at this edition, we might highlight the incorporation of the young designer, Maya Hansen, from EL EGO onto the General Programme, together with the staging of the "Russia at Cibeles" Fashion Show, within the framework of Spain-Russia Year. This event will take place on Monday 19th September at 8.00 p.m., offering some twenty Russian designers the opportunity to present their latest ideas.

Furthermore, as part of CMFW's renewed focus on new technologies, the different fashion shows at this edition will once again be broadcast live through the CIBELES web page, especially in view of the success of this initiative at the last edition, when more than 50,000 people were able to connect to the event with their computers and mobile devices in order to follow the different events live. At the same time, CMFW will strengthen its focus on social networking sites. Thus, in addition to being an active participant on Facebook and Twitter, as of this edition the fair will also feature on Tumblr and Tuenti. The fair will also maintain its own blog, with which it has been providing information regarding all aspects concerning CIBELES and the world of fashion for several months now.

Roberto Verino Opens the Programme
The designer, Roberto Verino, will open the programme of fashion shows at this edition, presenting his collection in the Cibeles Hall on Friday 16th September at 10.30 a.m. The programme will conclude with the second edition of the Coolpeople Fashion Show at Cibeles on Tuesday at 8.30 p.m. in the Neptuno Hall.

On this occasion, the fashion shows of the designers belonging to the Association of Fashion Designers of Spain (ACME) will take place between Friday 16th and Sunday 18th September. Alongside the show by Roberto Verino, the opening day will present the collections of Jesús del Pozo, Andrés Sardá, Duyos, Adolfo Dominguez, Victorio & Lucchino, Angel Schlesser and Miguel Palacio. Teresa Helbig, who has only recently joined ACME, will open the programme of fashion shows on Saturday 17th September, which will be followed by the collections presented by the following designers: Agatha Ruiz de la Prada, Roberto Torretta, Davidelfin, Francis Montesinos, Devota & Lomba, Hannibal Laguna and Kina Fernández.

The double fashion show staged by Ion Fiz and the débutante from EL EGO, Maya Hansen, will inaugurate the programme on Sunday 18th, which will also present the ideas of the following designers: Elisa Palomino, Ailanto, Lemoniez, Amaya Arzuaga, Juanjo Oliva and Ana Locking. The programme of fashion shows on Monday 19th September will commence with the double event featuring Montse Bassons and Martin Lamothe, followed by Sita Murt, TCN and the double fashion shows featuring Carlos Díez with María Escoté, and Juana Martín with Sara Coleman. The traditional swimwear fashion show from Guillermina Baeza and Dolores Cortés will conclude the programme of the established designer catwalk, which will lead to EL EGO the following day, 20th September, and its presentation of ideas by a number of talented young designers from Spain.

Coolpeople at CIBELES, a different and informal fashion show staged for the first time in Spain at last February's edition of CMFW, will once again offer a selection of young fashion-lovers the opportunity to tread the catwalk at the fair, all of whom are winners of a competition organised through social networking sites over several days prior to CMFW, based on the best fashion look. This initiative is organised by CMFW in conjunction with Centromodaonline.com.

For its part, as is customary CMFW February 2011 will include an Off Programme, encompassing the shows of six designers at different venues throughout Madrid.
