Anja Gockel new Spring/Summer 2012 collection is titled "The spirit of the smile". It is inspired by an old Chinese saying: "Master your life with a smile on your lips – or not at all".
The fact that Anja Gockel celebrates her label`s 15th anniversary shows that she was able to cope with challenging situations at certain times; always with a smile. Anja Gockel is fascinated by women living this spirit of lightness; seeing problems only as challenges and finding creative solutions. ABOUT THE DESIGNER
For Anja Gockel her job is her mission. She is a designer with heart and soul. Already as a child she was fascinated by art, was drawing and painting everyday, and immerged into the world of fantasy and colour. After her final secondary-school examination, the Abitur, followed a short period of consideration: Medical sciences, business economics or fine arts? She listened to the voice within her hear and headed straight into fashion design studies in Hamburg. Study visits to Spain and Italy enabled her to evolve a first, direct relation to fashion.
From there onwards, everything went very quickly: On the spur of the moment she receives one of ten, highly competitive university places at the prestige fashion college, Central St. Martins in London. Subsequently she works as a designer for Vivienne Westwood. She declines job offers of Jil Sander, Donna Karan and Tommy Hilfiger, as in the meantime she already knew: I will launch my own label: anja gockel - london. This happened in 1996. After 4 years she returns to Germany – the Anja Gockel GmbH arises. Since then, her collections can be regularly seen in the fashion capitals of the world and are sold in more than 20 countries. Countless articles and publications within television, radio, daily- and professional journals celebrate the label as a creative exception and create an international popularity.

Her collections are always diverse but always distinctive: Anja Gockel.
As founding president of the German sector of IWF (International Women’s Forum), she campaigns for women being able and to be supported, in order to combine career as well as family. She is married and a mother of four children.
