SPRING/SUMMER 2011 ISSUE
ABOUT PLAID MAGAZINE
Plaid Magazine is a multi-media resource for style culture, bringing readers the best in Toronto-based and international talent in fashion, art, photography, music, design and more. Our content rejoices in the work of new and established artists, and is presented in an up-beat and visually-pleasing way. Whether you're on the blog reading about a new gallery exhibition or checking out some of our favourite music videos; on the website reading intelligent, interesting interviews and indulging in gorgeous photo shoots; or flipping through our Special Edition print issue before committing it to the bookshelf, you won't help but feel involved, in tune and excited about what you've just seen.
At Plaid, we believe that there are many elements that compose an individual’s style portfolio; not just the clothes they wear, but the art they collect, the books they read, the music they listen to – investing in the arts is as integral as the latest addition to your wardrobe when it comes to being truly stylish. With a focus on up-and-coming design talent mixed with iconic pieces and fabulous vintage, our fashion stories and photo shoots create inspirational (not aspirational) editorial content.
Whether a designer has shown one collection or 10, we want to tell you about them – in a world of fast fashion, the innovators and dreamers are what will keep style alive through the ages. Mixing aesthetics and price points give readers a real and reliable resource for approaching fashion; a bit of vintage here, a bit of name brand there, classic pieces and contemporary trends are a jump-off point for each fashion story. Where it goes from there is up to you.
We don’t just stop at fashion, though – the artists, musicians, photographers and writers we profile are chic, interesting and contribute tremendously to the landscape of style.
Plaid is a Toronto based magazine founded in 2010.
