Montreal Jewellery Designer Brings Some Dazzle
to the LG Fashion Week Runway

Toronto – Montreal-based jewellery line MICALLA will be showcasing their Fall/Winter 2011 collection: MICALLA in the RAW at LG Fashion Week on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at 2:00pm at Heritage Court, Exhibition Place, Toronto.
“We are thinking about our future and our past,” says Danish-born designer Camilla Jørgensen on the theme of her latest collection, “It is rooted in our Scandinavian sensibility of design: clean lines and multi-functionality plus an unexpected hit of raw edges and natural beauty. We use raw diamonds and rubies and most of the pieces are classic, yet have an edge to them. Our Scandinavian roots are showing, but as always, with a twist of individuality.”MICALLA makes it priority to be socially and ethically responsible, with each piece being carefully handcrafted by Jørgensen in Montreal using unusual gemstones, certified and conflict-free diamonds, Swarovski crystals freshwater pearls, sterling sliver, and gold. The materials used in her pieces are sourced from strictly artisanal mines from across the globe; including small suppliers in the United States, Canada, Australia, Madagascar, India, and Africa – a reflection of her personal travels and varied background. Jørgensen was born in Denmark, raised in Sweden then worked in Sudan, Africa for UNICEF and the Red Cross, followed by studying medicine and business in England, all before settling in Montreal, Quebec.
